February is officially the month of love. Whether you celebrate Valentine's, Galentine's or Palentine's Day, then 14th February is the perfect occasion to show the special people in your life just how much they mean to you. In the current climate of lockdowns and social distancing, spreading some love will be even more important in 2021!
If you follow me on Instagram, you will know that I love to shout to the rooftops about indie businesses so here are a few of my favourite bookish goodies from small businesses which will make the perfect gift this February 14th!
Paper rose from Page and Bloom
What is more perfect for this time of year than a rose, right? I'll tell you. It is a rose hand-crafted from the pages of a reclaimed book! Page and Bloom is an amazing social enterprise which supports women who are rebuilding their lives after experiencing domestic abuse. They do a whole range of different flowers which change with the seasons. This was a bespoke rose I ordered last year for my love, made from the pages of The Tempest and with one of my favourite quotes from the play printed on the tag. If music or comics are more your thing then your rose can be made from those too! www.pageandbloom.com
Literary chocolates from Sweet Theatre
We've mentioned flowers, so it is time to mention chocolates! These delicious bars with a literary twist taste as good as they look and are a perfect gift for a bookish pal. I have pictured a selection of the 25g Shakespearean heroine bars but you can also pick up bars inspired by Alice in Wonderland, A Christmas Carol and Oscar Wilde too. The varied flavours include vegan options and you have the choice of 25g or 70g bars. They even have a special range for Valentine's featuring a Shakespearean quote on the back!
Bookish candles from Ember Stag Candles
Holly from Ember Stag Candles has the most glorious range of bookish inspired candles which are perfect for lighting on a chilly February evening in! Her range includes candles from a variety of genres, from classic to contemporary, and in different sizes as well. Pictured is the 'Love is Indomitable' candle inspired by Casey McQuiston's Red, White and Royal Blue which is so pretty inside I will actually feel guilty about lighting it! Holly has just launched some special edition candles inspired by contemporary literary couples so do check them out as they won't be around for long! www.emberstagcandles.co.uk
Bookish gift box from Shelf Explorer
These lovely gift boxes are the perfect way to spend a cosy evening and, to be honest, make the ideal gift for a whole range of occasions! As well as a surprise book based on which theme you pick (Crime & Mystery, Thought-Provoking Reads or Feel-Good Reads) your box includes some sweet treats and teas/hot chocolates and it is the perfect self-care package to gift. The first box also includes a beautiful bookmark for you to keep track of your reads. Katie at Shelf Explorers kindly gifted me a box and I just loved everything inside. Boxes ship on the 1st of each month so what better way to let someone know you care about them then by sending them one? As a treat for you too, you can currently get 15% off each box with the code JOANNE15.
So there are just a few ideas from me to share a little love this February 14th. Just for your information as well, this isn't a sponsored post at all and none of these wonderful businesses have requested to be featured here.
